I love teaching art to others. I teach twice a month. Once in my home and the other at my church. Here are some pictures of my church class and the painting they are working on.

My favorite design and creating is repurposing furniture. I love to encourage all artists to REUSE REPURPOSE AND RECREATE.

These are pictures from a student of mine, Twyla Dean. She brought my books and painted the foundation of her house were flowers would not grow. The refrigerator was her idea. It started as a white fridge, and she painted it black to match her other appliances and the hand painted flower Very creative!

We are on a motor trip out west, in our little roadtrek we call, ‘Trekie.’

I am enjoying sitting back and letting Bob do the driving. Through the very flat interstate riding I have been Zentangling and rock painting. That’s an advantage of a motor home.

Attached is a picture of a snake and a bug painted on a rock requested by my 6 year old twin grand nephews. The bag was for a niece which I later added Taylor’s library bag.

A great gift idea! My niece is graduating from the Univerity of Great Falls Montana. She loves anything African because of her adopted daughter, Aries. Her gift from me is hand painted glasses with an African theme. You can do it if you like to paint. Use only glass paint, the kind you bake in your oven for 30 to 60 minutes. Delta makes Perm Enamel, Folk Art’s paint is Enamels – this one is my favorite, but it is harder to find. The last one is I use is Porcelaine by Pebeo. It is made by a French Company. Use your imagination and pass the joy on to friends and family! Sherry

My friend, artist Carol Hirst, and I painted this toy chest to be auctioned for a benefit for Spiral Muscular Atrophy. We painted this in one day. My granddaughter, Mckenzee helped me base coat the chest with an aqua Sherwin Williams Paint. After we finished I protected the chest with 2 coats of a water based clear coat.

Ian and I were pleased to research and paint a 60 foot mural to look like Norah’s Ark. We first treated the 12 upper windows with a bonding agent so they may be painted exterior paint. We were very pleased with the finished mural. It has created a lot of interest from Beechmont Levee where it is located.

This was my eleventh year at the creative painting convention. So much fun. It is much like the Hoot convention but it is not connected with a national painting group. They have had two conventions a year. One in Las Vegas in February and one in Dallas TX in October. It is friendly and fun. I have in the past taught and demoed for Royal Brushes, Black Gold brushes and Deco Art paints. One year I took a class from Claudia Nice, one of my favorite pen and ink teachers.

This year I just enjoyed going to the show. This is the first year Virginia was allowed on the convention floor and was able to go with me. She found out after waiting all these years and staying at our condo that it is a lot of older ladies and lots of painting booths. She did enjoy the “make and take it” crafts. She made a hurricane lamp with a new glitter puff paint for glass.

At the convention you do need to see new products and talk to like minded people. The classes are good too. Las Vegas is a good destination. We meet two of Bob’s bothers and families and have a mini family reunion. The men play golf each day and the women enjoy shopping and going to the convention.
